Overview:
Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a Leave of Absence Specilalist to work in our Egg Harbor Township, NJ office.
The Leave of Absence Specialist will oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.
Responsibilities:
Handles the leave of absence administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work.
This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA/State Leave-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules.
Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
Works with Health & Safety to coordinates Leave of Absence for Workers' Compensation.
Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work, and relays communication between employees and their managers as applicable.
Advises managers and employees on the interaction of FMLA, disability, paid leave laws, etc.
with paid time off benefits.
Oversees the return-to-work process.
Works with employees, managers, accounting, and payroll to ensure proper timesheet codes are utilized for paid or unpaid leaves, and employees receive applicable pay.
Facilitates leave requests which may include accommodation requests under the ADA.
Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
Maintains knowledge of current, new and changing leave and accommodation policies and laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
Qualifications:
Basic /Minimum Education requirement to perform the job:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources (or related field), or equivalent related experience.
Relevant Years of experience required to perform the role:
5
years in Human Resources, 2-4 years of Leave of Absence experience.
Licensure/Certifications:
Professional in Human Resources or SHRM-Certified Professional preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
