Junior Test Engineer/Scientist

Primary Function Battelle's Aviation Security Division provides research development test and evaluation services to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA).  The qualified candidate for this position will support Independent Test and Evaluation (IT&E) events of security technologies at the Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL).  Candidate will be responsible in supporting test planning, test execution, daily reporting, data reduction and analysis, and test reporting for discrete test events of transportationsecurity equipment for checkpoint, checked baggage, and cargo screening applications.  This testing involves the use of live explosives, simulated explosives, and mock passengers.  Candidate will support the preparation of project results, both orally and in written form and therefore must have strong interpersonal and computer skills, including use of all MS-Office applications. Major Responsibilities Performs assignments of a routine degree of complexity by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications. Assists in the interpretation of results and writing of small sections of technical reports. Position Requirements THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION: The candidate must have at least a BS in engineering, physics, chemistry, or related field from an accredited college or university.   Experience required is 0-2 years of technical work experience.  Candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills.   Candidates should have excellent computer skills with diverse familiarity with multiple operating systems (e.g. Linux, Unix, Windows). Candidates should have significant experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).  Candidates should be highly motivated and self-starters with a strong desire to learn. The candidate must be able to travel.  Travel is expected to be at least 25%. Sole US Citizenship with eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance and to obtain both TSA and DHS Suitability. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
