Environmental Protection Specialist, GS-0028-12

This position is located within the US Coast Guard (USCG) at Air Station Atlantic City in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the program manager, technical expert and principal advisor for environmental compliance and hazardous material management for Air Station Atlantic City. Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:
Managing and facilitating environmental programs to protect and improve environmental quality, control pollution, remedy environmental damage, and ensure compliance Serving as the subject matter expert for Atlantic City and National Capital Region (NCR) air stations on mandatory, procedural, technical, and legal matters Managing the hazardous material management programs Ensuring all hazardous materials are properly stowed and segregated Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level (in the Federal sector). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:
Ensuring compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency's federal, state, and local regulations, Coast Guard environmental directives and the MWAA Hazardous Spill Notification/Spill Action Plan; preparing all environmental correspondence for internal and external environmental matters; preparing and submitting environmental reports, federal, state and local permit renewals, and coordinates public notices/meetings and responses to ensure compliance; planning and coordinating all applicable training requirements for all unit employees.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
